INSANITY Sanity Check DVD Workout: An Introduction to INSANITY

Wow, just wow.
I ordered Insanity Sanity Check because I'm not in the best shape of my life. I do workout 5-6 days a week, but nothing near this intensity. I was really nervous about ordering the Insanity program, and rightfully so.
I opened the box and was so excited to pop it in the DVD player! I got dressed, filled my water bottle and a grabbed a towel. That's all you need. No weird equipment or weights. (I'm pretty sure if I tried to hold a weight while following this DVD I would have died.) So, we get started and within about 2 minutes I'm breathing super hard and sweating like crazy. At this point I think, wow I didn't think I was in such good shape. Two or three minutes later, Shaun announces that we're almost done with the warm-up!! Sweet mother of God!
At around the 20 minute mark I started to really worry that I couldn't finish. I started to doubt whether or not I was ready for a workout of this intensity. Then I wanted to cry.. but I managed to get thru to the cooldown and I'm...

Great as an intro to Insanity
I recently committed that I was going to do the 60-day Insanity program. It had all the features I wanted in a workout: home workout that doesn't require weights, a full body workout, a real challenge that will give me a sense of accomplishment after completing it.

The problem is that I am extremely out of shape and I don't mean being overweight, I'm talking about just not having good cardio stamina. So after completing 3 days of Insanity I just was not happy with my workouts. I was having to stop multiple times and my form was not that great because of the sore muscle pain. I knew I needed to prepare myself more to build up enough stamina to at least get through a 45 minute workout.

My original idea was to jog for 30-40 minutes every other day for 2 weeks or so. Good idea, but running alone didn't seem enough to get me prepared. As I was researching Insanity a bit more I watched a webchat where Shaun T mentioned Sanity Check in it. I thought "that is exactly...

So glad I decided to try the "intro" first!
So I was enjoying my pizza at a local pizza parlor when I saw an advertisement for Insanity. I was intrigued by the fact that you didn't need any equipment, and it seemed like it was a bit more approachable than P90X in terms of required level of fitness to start the program. When I found that they had a single DVD introduction for Insanity, I figured that was a perfect way to test the waters.

Being out of shape, and with a few pounds I could stand to loose, this was certainly the right way to go. I'm on Day 3 so far - still not able to keep up with the speed and energy level that is shown in the video, but things are getting better. To put it into context, on the first day I was ready to stop at the halfway mark and try to get further the next day....but I quickly put that thought out of my head, and I'm glad I did.

I'll be ordering the full Insanity program soon -- I'm still debating whether I try to do this for 2 weeks or just the single week it...
