Standing Ovation

Don't take it too seriously!
Definitely not going to win any Oscars. Kind of cheesy. A little grating.

But...

My daughters (6 and 8) and their friends absolutely LOVE this goofy movie. They sing the songs from it constantly - and I get a kick out of the fact that their favorite is Tina Turner's "River Deep-Mountain High". They looked at me like I was psychic when I stated singing along the first time we watched it - so Mom gets some cool points, which is a rare treat.

If you grew up spending summers on the Jersey Shore (the real one... not that Snooki nonsense), you'll see some familiar sights as the movie was filmed in Atlantic City and Wildwood. There's even a scene in Gateway 26, that big ol' turquoise arcade on the Wildwood boardwalk. My husband spent his summers in college working there. Cool points for Dad!

All in all, worth picking up for elementary-school aged girls, they'll adore it and it does have a nice message about working hard, persistence, all that good...

Parent Alert
Anyone who has a teenage daughter should be sure to get their hands on this movie. It is entertaining and suggests to teenagers that there is more to life than landing a date or getting high. Good positive role models for young women--a rare find in this culture that still has billboards in front of clubs blinking 'live nude girls' in neon.

Perfect Movie for the younger crowd!! Ages 5-14 years old!!
I am not a fan of High Musical for the younger kids (5-14). I feel that those type of movies are too mature for that age range. Standing Ovation however is the perfect compromise. My 6, 8 & 10 loved the movie and the soundtrack! I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a more age appropriate alternative to movies like High School Musical.
